Missouri Political News (MPN) launched on Jan. 3, 2007, as the state General Assembly's legislative session opened. Since our inception, we have striven to provide detailed analysis of Missouri's political scene, inclusive of campaign finance records, voting trends, state economics, and a cross section of detailed data-driven policy reviews.
In Apr. 2008, MPN migrated to our curent home, MPNblog.com, to better accommodate the influx of daily readers. Our readership grew substantially in the months leading up to the 2008 primaries, due in part to extensive coverage of the Gubernatorial and Attorney General primaries.
Due to a number of pressing demands on our contributors at the same time, we decided to suspend our operations temporarily in Sept. 2009. Almost immediately we heard from readers and policy-wonks throughout the state, reiterating the widespread demand for our analyses. During our one-year hiatus we too noticed the distinct absence of the type of analysis we previously provided, so in Oct. 2009 we decided to continue operations and launched MPNblog.com 2.0.
Contributors to MPNblog.com have a wide variety of backgrounds, including extensive knowledge of public policy, political science, and economics.
Mission Statement
The purpose of MPNblog.com is to provide comprehensive non-partisan analysis of the Show-Me State's political landscape.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is this website associated with the Missouri Political News Service (MOPNS)?
A: No, the sites are not affiliated whatsoever. MPNblog.com originally launched 4 months before MOPNS, so this is really more an incident of unfortunate naming than anything. In terms of content, the sites are also very different. MPNblog.com strives to provide useful, and often insightful, policy analytics as opposed to strictly ideological political attacks.
Q: Who should I contact to correct an error on your website?
A: While MPNblog.com strives to provide accurate information, we do of course make inadvertent mistakes from time to time. If you identify material you believe to be an error, please notify our editor via email at editor@MPNblog.com.
